Maite Mompó is currently the Director of Stop Ecocide International for the Spanish-speaking world, a global movement whose primary goal is to secure a law to protect the Earth by making ecocide the fifth crime against Peace under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court.
Maite has dedicated her entire life to human rights, peace, and the environment. She has been directly involved in various causes and worked with several organizations, most notably Amnesty International and Greenpeace. After nearly a decade serving as a crew member on Greenpeace ships, she authored the book «Rainbow Warriors: Legendary Stories from Greenpeace Ships,» an essential tool for outreach and raising awareness about the major global environmental issues of recent decades.
Maite holds a degree in Law and specializes in ecological ethics, sustainability, and environmental education (Polytechnic University of Valencia). She has spent years delivering keynote lectures on environmental topics and leading environmental awareness projects for educational centers. Since 2019, she has been a key member of the Stop Ecocide International team, driving the global debate on the legal definition of ecocide to foster an ethical and social paradigm shift in the relationship between humans and our planet.
