Meraya & El Origen de la Noche

Two immersive works that invite us to enter Indigenous worlds of knowledge, memory and relationship with the living world.

Meraya, by Pedro Favaron, is an audiovisual journey into the visionary and medicinal universe of the Shipibo-Konibo people of the Peruvian Amazon. Through forest sounds, medicinal chants, kené designs and images of everyday life, the film explores healing, beauty and the relationships between human, vegetal and spiritual worlds.

El Origen de la Noche, by Diana Rico and Richard Décaillet, takes us into Amazonian stories about the creation of night. Drawing on historical sound archives and recordings made in collaboration with Indigenous traditional authorities from Colombia, the work weaves together ancestral narratives, chants, music and sounds of the forest.

Together, these works offer a sensory encounter with different ways of listening, remembering and understanding our relationship with territory, ancestry and the more-than-human world.
