Hall
The Global Dialogues Hall hosts an intercultural and interdisciplinary meeting ground where Indigenous leaders, researchers, policy experts, practitioners and community leaders exchange perspectives on the global expansion of ayahuasca.
This space examines the ethical, biocultural, social, and spiritual implications of ayahuasca’s expansion and explores collaborative pathways forward.
Friday, 11 September
Day 1 traces ayahuasca’s journey from the Amazon to the non-Indigenous world, covering Indigenous contacts, the emergence of Santo Daime churches, and expansion across Brazil and other Amazonian nations.
The session also explores international religious use, challenges to religious freedom, and experiences of religious leaders from other traditions.
Saturday 12 September
Day 2 examines safety, ethics, and risk prevention in ayahuasca work across diverse settings, including retreat centers and urban spaces.
We explore integration, legal defense strategies from criminalization to acquittals, and reflect on research gaps, blind spots, and building bridges between Indigenous worldviews and scientific approaches.
Sunday 13 September
Day 3 explores how Indigenous medicine systems understand health and healing, examining decolonization and intercultural approaches.
We discuss emerging regulatory pathways for ayahuasca — from decriminalization to rights-based frameworks — and hear community-led self-regulation proposals from several countries awaiting state-level changes.
